[edit] Physical Description
A young and innocent looking female with a small frame, standing around 5'8 and weighing as much as a feather. She has bright blue eyes, sports shoulder length golden blonde hair with a tint of brown at the tips and supple red lips. From a distance this eager Defender of the Holy Light looks like a mess, her hair contains "split-ends", her armor is almost non-existant thanks to a new-found style. Thanks to hours of constant training she has a small but well chiseled frame with subtle hints of strong muscles, her entire body has rarely been touched by an enemy's weapon thus making her entirely scar-less. Though she may appear meek and innocent, her eyes show a hint of great experience in battle and everything associated with it.
[edit] History
Born to this plane with no idea who her mother was, Renalia was raised by the Cathedral of Lordaeron studying day in and day out of the Holy Light, a set of Principles which govern most of human society. She was trained in the ways of a Priestess for nearly fifty years until one fateful day she met the one man who would be known as the "Greatest Light this world has ever seen." This man was none other than Uther the Lightbringer whom had taken an interest in Renalia since the moment he saw her. He requested she immediately be given to him to learn the ways of the Paladin Knight, a steadfast defender of the Holy Light. Renalia underwent hours upon hours of training and studying under the "Lightbringer" as if he were preparing her for something, or some cataclysmic event that would change her and the world she lived in forever. It wasn't until a few years prior to the events that started the Third War that Uther spoke to Renalia about his reasons behind training her so hard. He spoke in a soft toned voice which showed fatigue but also a new found hope as he handed her his Libram. Renalia, this is my gift to you. For coming of age, and for being the most dedicated pupil I have ever had the pleasure of guiding. Renalia was unsure what she did to deserve such a memento however she felt it would dishonor him should she refuse so she accepted and bowed her head low. As they sat in the grass nearest the Cathedral Renalia shifted herself a moment upon her knees in order to allow proper bloodflow and then returned to being motionless, a position she was taught how to sustain nearly indefinitely. Her blue eyes met his tired ones as he spoke to her of a Libram he had read within the most sacred Halls of the Cathedral as well as of a certain mural he had seen in his youth. What he described to her would change her outlook on the world and her destiny forever. Renalia, your Fate is not known, however be aware that not everyone's purpose in this world is the same. You have a special destiny awaiting you, I can feel it in these old bones my student. Reading that Libram and viewing that mural... I now understand what is coming, and what must happen. I ask you never to be afraid and never to falter from the Holy Light regardless of what may happen, that is my final lesson to you my student. With that said he rose from his kneeling position and walked over to her almost as gracefully as a bird and placed a soft kiss of respect and admiration upon her forehead. She remained silent and did her best to hide her emotions until he had finally departed to which she began to weep. This was the last time she would ever see the "Lightbringer".
As history can tell, Prince Arthas a once glorified and respected Paladin of the Holy Light turned on his people and lead the greatest Betrayal in History. Along his many conquests Arthas had slain Ranger General Sylvanas Windrunner, a staple for the Quel'dorei as a race. Renalia heard of this news first while in Theramore with Jaina Proudmoore, it wasn't until reaching the mainland that she was greeted by remnants of the Silver Hand and met with the news of the Lightbringer's death. Renalia wept for several days before realizing some of what the Lightbringer had told her, he had known this was going to happen and he did his best to prepare her. Records show that Renalia did not leave Theramore until the founding of the "Horde" with the newfound "Sin'dorei". She traveled to meet her lost brothers and sisters only to finally arrive in Silvermoon and realize her brethren had turned into magic addicted, revenge filled vagabonds. She now knew her place was to help guide her brethren back towards the Holy Light which they felt had abandoned them in their time of need, as if the rest of the world wasn't in the same need. She attended many classes and seminars that the "Blood Knights" had held in order to understand this newfound "Order". Much to her horror they were nothing more than blood thirsty zealots who bended the beauty of the Light to their will for no other purpose than to bring harm to their former allies. Renalia felt powerless and one night planned to bring these thugs to Justice when suddenly she heard a voice, it soothed her growing emotions and almost instantly made her feel content and a certain pity for her brethren. They do not understand why this has happened to them, they feel as if they were the only ones that suffered. However, it is with steadfast devotion to Duty and the Holy Light that ones such as you and I can guide these lost children back into the warmth of the Holy Light. Bless you, child. Since that moment Renalia finally understood where the source of the Blood Knight's "power" came from. A benevolent being who's will could easily level all of Silvermoon but instead, slowly allows it's pure Light to be trickled down into the Sin'dorei like a small waterfall of the purest water.
Exactly a year later, an aspiring Archmage by the name of Fyrana Silverblade "adopted" Renalia and eventually introduced her to the one woman that would one day be the love of her life, her wife and mentor Yalene Sel'uviane. She was in love from the first moment her eyes met those of Yalene, her green eyes though tainted showed a piercing blue to them which only Renalia seemed to see. Yalene was a pride-filled and struggling Blood Knight who seemed to be fighting against the strongest will in this world, one's self. Renalia began to slowly introduce herself as a meek, young and innocent girl who knew no better in terms of battle. Yalene would only shrug this off as if it meant nothing to her, that is until one day. Renalia had been at Yalene's side as she was introduced to a well established Orc Warrior named "Draenaiko". When Draenaiko had extended her hand to greet the young Paladin, Renalia froze in nervousness as Draenaiko was a very intimidating person. Yalene, in an almost embarassed and disgusted tone of voice ordered Renalia to follow her. Sitting her down on a nearby bench Yalene assaulted Renalia with words that would burn deep into her heart. Though the exact words are unknown it was said that they ignited a fire within her soul and inspired her to train even harder so that one day she could live in Yalene's world. Again, not much is known in how their love blossomed but it did. Renalia revealing the most well kept and hidden secrets about her heritage and history to Yalene who could only gaze in awe at Renalia, an innocent and child like woman who just happened to be something more. Over time Renalia's influence with the Holy Light forever changed the elder Knight and gave her a new purpose to live not only for Renalia who loved her but for those defenseless and helpless souls desiring peace and a sense of place in the world. Exact dates are not known at this time, however Renalia proposed to Yalene using an unorthodox method, a simple gesture of love in the form of a diamond given to Yalene. Yalene would wear this diamond in the form of a ring which was attached to a silver chain which she wore around her neck at all times. To this day it isn't known if they ever had a public or formal wedding but their love for one another undoubtedly rivals that of Tyrande and Malfurion.
As Renalia aged, so did Yalene who eventally had to leave her for the newly discovered "Outlands". Renalia entered a state of depression and sadness being apart from one who had given her so much attention and warmth. It wasn't until a long overdue visit from her wife that Renalia was once again inspired and given another purpose to train harder, to be able to protect her wife. Aside from being self taught and never forgetting the lessons of Uther, Renalia also traveled with Fyrana Silverblade to Theramore anytime she needed to visit her family. It was not until a journey into Elwynn forest that Renalia met a hermit named "Connor", he was a middle aged man who eventually revealed himself to be a man considered one of the greatest swordsman to have ever lived. His style was so unique and unorthodox that no one he had ever faced in his prime were ever able to best him. He called himself a "Gladiator who became a Duelist." many times throughout conversation although he looked like nothing more than a bum. His masculine facial features expressed a tired, sorrow-filled anger which instantly reminded Renalia of her wife. She challenged him to a friendly duel and before she had realized he had swung, or that he even had weapons under his long, dusty brown overcoat he had her by the throat, her armor was nearly seared off of her flesh and she was left in her undergarments. No living person to that day was able to see those swift, powerful and deadly techniques until Renalia overcame her sudden embarassment and decribed to Connor, every exact motion as if he had moved in slow motion. He was shocked to say the least, he sheathed his twin blades and handed her his overcoat and asked her to follow him. Eventually Renalia learned of Connor's dark past, his style and his deep seated hatred for Yalene, her wife. Connor had lost two brothers to an ill-fated charge which he blamed Yalene for, he trained hard until one day he nearly pushed himself to the brink of death and it wasn't until that moment he had an epiphany. He developed a new style and sought to make money in order to fund his journey in an attempt to find and slay Yalene. However, after many months of Gladiator combat he began to wonder what his purpose in life was, in an attempt to do a bit of "soul searching" he retired himself as a hermit vowing never to teach anyone his style. This is what he said after every lesson he taught Renalia, he trained her harshly for nearly a year until she had the basics of his style which revolved around focusing one's spirit into "Sonic" energy which would be stored in one's weapon until the user "discharges" the pent up energy in a series of flashy, swift and devastating movements. Eventually Renalia had earned Connor's trust and he began to travel with her back to Silvermoon, hiding in the hills within a cottage Renalia and he had built for this purpose.
Renalia has recently undertaken a pilgrimage into the Outlands where she met a Dwarven Hunter named Ezekiel, a Gnome mage named Jinaissa and a Sin'dorei Warlock named Yshara who all opted to travel with Renalia on her pilgrimage to find their own destiny and for lack of "anything better to do". While in the Outlands she met a maority of the Naaru whom she felt a kinship with, little did anyone know, Renalia was not Quel'dorei. She was in fact a being of the purest Light, born in times of extreme crisis where "Evil" attempts to unbalance the "Good". She is known as the "Prodigy of Light" or even "Child of Light" according to the many librams that have recently been recovered in Stormwind. The mural Uther spoke of is an exact portrait of Renalia, something she has yet to see. Those of the "purest" heart can see Renalia for who she really is, a being so bright that her face is unable to be seen by any short of a "Saint", her wings are of a twenty foot wingspan and of a bright white in color. A halo crowns her long, flowing white hair while she is garbed in a near see-through white gown of the softest fabric. In her left hand rests a Libram containing the Principles of the Holy Light, in her right rests a brilliantly colored and glowing longsword which serve as visual reminder that the Light, though warm and forgiving to those seeking it, it can also be a relentless tide of Light able to wash away the darkest of Evils and smite those unable to be purified or forgiven. Many tales await those who ask her, however that is for another time...
[edit] Personality
Quiet, forgiving and respectful Renalia rarely speaks out of place and if she does her voice is so soothing and innocent she cannot help but draw attention, both wanted and unwanted. She seems to radiate with an aura of happiness, those around her are instantly affected and cannot help but to smile. There is rarely a moment where she isn't smiling, she never expresses anger towards anything or anyone as if she is unable to.
[edit] Known Styles and Techniques
Renalia is a well versed Paladin Knight however there are times when even she must be able to deal out enough damage to render her opponent incapable of continuing the act that forced her to fight in the first place. Unlike Connor, Renalia's intent isn't to kill her enemy but to subdue them and hopefully deter them from pursuing violent acts towards her. A "Gladiator" as Connor calls the "Class", is one who is so devoted to combat and their weapon they become one with it and are excel in one on one combat preferring to use Dual swords over any other weapon type.
[edit] Sonic Focus
The user gathers some of their spirit energy and focuses it into "Sonic" energy to be stored in an object (Preferably a weapon) ready to be discharged at a moment's notice allowing feats of unprecedented speed and power. The amount of "charges" is dependant upon the user and their knowledge of the technique. Renalia can store up to five "charges" while Connor can store up to seven.
A visual example of Sonic Focus
[edit] Sonic Blaster
The user discharges stored Sonic Energy as a Solid beam of light towards a distant target. (Requires 2 charges)
[edit] Sonic Storm
The Gladiator aims his/her weapon(s) and launches a large beam of light towards to target, upon connection the beam detonates and causes an explosion affecting multiple targets within a small radius. (Requires 2 charges)
[edit] Sonic Buster
The Gladiator swings his/her weapon towards his/her opponent and once it connects the Sonic energy detonates causing a burning effect upon the target as well multiple targets within a small radius. (Requires 2 charges)
[edit] Triple Slash
The Gladiator swings his/her sword three times in rapid succession with great accuracy, this skill also bypasses shield defense. (Requires 0 charges)
[edit] Double Sonic Slash
The Gladiator discharges a great amount of Sonic energy into a series of quick and powerful thrusts and slashes resulting in the complete destruction of his/her target. The final series of slashes is said to be so strong it can literally "blow" the armor off of the target due to the explosion of Sonic energy. (Requires 3 charges)
[edit] Triple Sonic Slash
The Gladiator becomes so infused with Sonic Energy that he/she resonates with it and must release it in the form of a devastating series of thrusts followed by a jumping uppercut mainly due to the explosion that occurs when releasing such a large amount of energy. This is the Gladiator's ultimate skill and takes years to learn, a lifetime to perfect. (Requires 4 charges)
[edit] Duelist Spirit
The Gladiator becomes infused with the spirit of the Duelist allowing an unmatched increase in agility and strength for a limited time.
[edit] Lionheart
The Gladiator becomes fearless for a limited amount of time, their will power is so great their ability to resist any spells and effects that render them helpless becomes significantly increased.
[edit] How a Gladiator fights
Relying on pure offense and a light amount of armor the Gladiator aims to completely dominate his/her opponent with a show of superior swordsmanship skills and the ablity to avoid taking a blow. However, they train to absorb and get acquainted with pain so it doesn't hinder their offensive prowess.
(Here is an example, btw a Duelist is a "Hero" Gladiator in the game Lineage II which I neither own or claim to be as a product of my creation.)

[edit] Quotes
"I have no fear of death for my life is no longer just my own to live. I must live for my wife, Yalene and the countless innocent and defenseless people that I have sworn to protect. This is my promise..."
