[edit] Attitude

The Protectors of the Light are a casual raiding Guild. As such, they focus on raiding, while still having fun.You must be atleast 18 years old to join.

[edit] Maturity

Although we have an age requirement, age does not automatically show that you act mature. Maturity is a must when it comes to membership. Remember, the Guild's name is floating over your head. Drama over loot, badmouthing the Guild, ninjaing* (Even in non-Guild runs.) etcetera are things that although you might not get kicked over, you'll get a stern talking to. Although the officer or Guild Master does their best to seem nice, trust me, I've been there, and it is pretty awkward nonetheless.

  • It's impossible to ninja in Guild runs due to our use of /roll master looter. HOWEVER, if reports get to an officer that you ninja... Well, prepare for that awkward conversation.

[edit] Our stance on RP.

Roleplaying is okay. We don't Roleplay in Guild Chat, but our members will not flame you for RP. In fact, the Guild will even set up RP events. At one point we had a pageant. So, if you RP, talk to Ahnuar if you have ideas for events, and he may just set one up.

[edit] Bank

We have 7 slots in the bank. Each one is for different materials or items. Check the info of a tab before you deposit into it. Although the bank is deposit-only, it is just to protect from members being hacked. Ask for anything in the bank, and it is yours.

[edit] The Tabard

Our tabard is influenced by the Alliance colors. We tried to make it be clearly Alliance-inspired, while still making it our own.

[edit] Ventrilo

Yes! We have Vent! Check the Guild info for the source, port, and all that good stuff. Even if you don't have a mic, you still need Ventrilo so you can listen in on raids.

[edit] Raids/Instances/Heroics

We have weekly raids, and if you need help in an instance, or members for a Heroic, simply ask and you'll definitely find people. Often, you can have Guild groups for even non-heroics.

[edit] Also

It is required that you know the fights. Find out which boss fights you are doing on a particular night, and watch the Tankspot walk-throughs on Youtube. If you do not know fights, you may be kicked from a raid.

[edit] Loot Rules (Only for Raiding)

Okay, first, one roll for main spec, and one for off spec UNTIL:

Everyone in (ROLE) or Off-Spec (ROLE) has gotten a piece during the run, or until the next run.

We do master looter. Don't worry, we favor no one. It is just a precaution against ninjaing.

[edit] Required AddOns for Raiding

Deadly Boss Mods (DBM) - Automatically gives shouts on your screen when a boss is using a certain ability, enrage timers, etcetera. Very flexible and useful. DBM is REQUIRED.

A Threat Meter - Omen is reccomended. A Threat Meter is REQUIRED.

Pallypower - Paladins only get this. If you are a Paladin, Pallypower is REQUIRED

[edit] The author recommends these AddOns to help you raid with the Guild

Runewatch for Death Knights. It'll keep track of your cooldowns, Runic Power, and diseases on your target in a customizable and movable frame. (The frame is VERY cool looking. The graphics are great, and you can customize it. It even has color schemes for all the talent trees.)

Recount, a DPS meter is great. Recount is even better, a Damage Done, Healing Done, HPS, RPPS, DPS, RPS, ETCETERA-PS meter. Great to have to track how well you are doing in a Raid. Remember though, DPS isn't everything.

[edit] Vetting

You are not allowed to PUG (PUGing is a reward of some sort for becoming a vetted member) until you are Vetted. The same goes for Guild Runs. Vetting is when you run with either your class or role leader through a Heroic, and are cleared to raid. If you are not vetted on your first run, the class or role leader will work with you to get your gear, rotations, enchants and gems up to where they need to be. Vetting is something that 90% of people will pass easily, so don't be worried.

Oh, by the way, if you raid without being vetted you're Gkicked. :)
