History/Backstory

Childhood - The Dark Portal

Elrodan was abandoned at a young age by his father. He was forced to fend for himself on the streets by thieving and fighting. Through blood sweat and tears he grew up knowing nothing but a life of crime and petty thieving.

When he grew older, he heard the horde were launching an offensive to outland. Outland; the name sounded familiar. Then he remembered it in a flash. It was the last place he knew his father had gone to. So he set out for the Dark Portal with the hopes of finding his father.

Ambushed

As he was making his way through Terrokar forest, Elrodan was ambushed by a group of Sunfury Blood Elves. He couldn't make out much of what they were saying except for "Kill the Scryer!" and "For Kael'Thas!" He was overwhelmed, but just before the final blow was struck, an arrow tore through the night sky, striking one of the attackers in the side of the head. The others, unaware of where this deadly shot came from, began to panic and flee in terror. One by one they were picked off by these rogue arrows. Elrodan wasn't sure if he was next, until a he heard a voice that seemed to come out of nowhere. "Do not worry, we are your friends here."

It was a group of Scryer Rangers. Elrodan thanked them for saving his life. They then set up camp and decided to head for Shattrath in the morning. Over a cozy fire, Elrodan explained to these Scryer Rangers why he was here and who he was searching for. The Scryer Rangers then informed Elrodan of Kael'Thas' betrayal to the Blood Elf people and how the sunfury Elves were responsible for the death of his father. Disgusted, Elrodan agreed to join the cause of these Scryers and fight Kael'Thas with the hope that he could somehow avenge his father's death.

Varedis

Elrodan was taken to Shattrath and introduced to the leader of the Scryers, Voren’thal. It was here he learned of the Scryer plot to kill Varedis, an Illidari Demon Hunter. Elrodan asked to come and help fight this battle, as he was eager to get out and begin to avenge his father's death. The Scryers reluctantly agreed, after Voren'thal told them to allow it. So the group headed to Shadowmoon Valley to do battle with Varedis and his demon hunter initiates.

The battle of the Ruins of Karabor

It was a even match, as one side would advance only to be pushed back. This went on for an hour or so, before Elrodan decided to try and take matters into his own hand. Elrodan withdrew from the front lines and attempted to sneak up to the top tier of the temple, where he could see Varedis meditating as if waiting for something.. or someone; listening to the painful cries of every Scryer one of his demon hunters brutally struck down.

He eventually reached the stop of the temple, and quickly dispatched the two initiates standing guard. He then lunged for Varedis. Varedis parried each attack with ease. Elrodan couldn't come close and began to tire.

"Why hasn't he finished me off yet?"

pondered Elrodan as he tried to catch his breath. Varedis then spoke to Elrodan as a smirk slowly formed on his face.

"I've been waiting for you, rogue. I know your skills and I know what you're capable of. That's why you weren't killed 2 minutes ago when you first attacked me."

He continued as the smirk on his face grew a little larger

"Your poor father abandoned you as a child, and now you fight for him? Why? Why fight for a man who was too cowardly to raise his own son?"

Elrodan knew he shouldn't listen, but somehow, the words Varedis spoke seemed almost true.

"I can offer you an escape from what you think is a life of revenge. Join me, and I can train you to hone your skills and become something greater than a pathetic Scryer rogue."

Elrodan was torn. He wanted to join, but he knew soon enough that the Scryers will ascend these steps and kill Varedis. Almost as if Varedis had been reading his thoughts, he stated

"Your friends won't be stopping me today, and neither will you. Join me or die like them."

He knew now what he must do. And so, as anger boiled inside him over his abandonment as a child, he agreed to join Varedis.

Training as a Demon Hunter

Elrodan was an exceptional student. He quickly advanced through the initiate phase over the years. Every scratch and every cut only made him more determined to hone and better his skills. Eventually, he was granted his new vision. However, Varedis' influence changed Elrodan. He grew angrier, more jealous, and more violent with each day of his training. His demon hunter pact with darkness engulfed him, and he knew it. Elrodan didn't try to stop it though. Instead, he embraced it and eventually craved more of it.

The Book of Fel Names

Elrodan learned how Varedis grew to such great strengths; by memorizing the book of fel names. So he decided that he no longer wanted to take orders from Varedis, and to do so he would steal the book of fel names and gain a power to rival that of Varedis. His plan was discovered, however, and he was immediately stripped of his glaives and expelled from the training. Varedis would have had him killed, had he not escaped during the quiet of one night. Broken and stripped of his power, Elrodan thinks of nothing but revenge now.

Revenge

Elrodan's heart and mind are full of revenge. In his weakened state, Elrodan couldn't go back to the Scryers, and he certaintly couldn't go back to Varedis, so he wandered for days. In his wandering, he met a brave shaman named Torgrox. He learned that Torgrox was raising an army to combat Illidan and his forces in the Black Temple. Seeing the opportunity to not only get revenge on Varedis and his followers, but also gain a power unmatched by any, he agreed to join Torgrox's cause.

Present Day

Now, Elrodan fights alongside his comrades in Shadows and Dust as he hunts Illidan and his demon hunters. He doesn't do it for the good of Azeroth like his companions think, however. Instead, he does it to regain a pair of warglaives and also to regain his demonic powers as a demon hunter.
