Physical Description

  • Height: 6"8
  • Weight: 185lbs
  • Hair: Black
  • Eyes: Gold
  • Skin: Fair

Well built and well-proportioned, Dranoel focuses much on agility and flexibility instead of muscles strength; his elegance in his movements are beautiful and graceful. His unbraided and pitch black hair, flows neatly down his back. His deep Golden eyes emit a soft and warm glow. Normally dressed in either Crimson or dull coloured robes, Dranoel looks very unimposing for one of his height, prefering to fade into the background. But when Dranoel dons his armor and head out to battle, he towers over his enemies and raise the Standard of the Horde with great honour. When Dranoel stands at his full height, it is obvious that he is no ordinary Elf.

Personality

Dranoel is a very reclusive Elf. Spending a great part of his life at the open ocean, Dranoel have a longing for the sea. He is a diplomat and tactician at heart, always believing there is a peaceful way to end conflicts, only fighting when there is no other choice. Having been trained by the Pandaren Elders and the Silver Hand, Dranoel upholds Justice and Balance in the name of the Light. Despite being ordained into both the Order of the Blood Knights and the Silver Hand, Dranoel is determinded to never stray from his conviction to Justice, Loyalty and Honour.

In recent times, Dranoel have been seen recently in Silvermoon. People describe him either as a drunken and crude soldier from Alterac Valley, to a Noble and Gentlemanly Knight. How he appears to people probably depends on his blood-alchohol level.

Recent Activities

Dranoel spends much of his time in Alterac Valley, fighting on behalf of the Frostwolf Clan. While he sometimes fights at Warsong Gulch, Eye of the Storm and Arathi Basin, his true passion is the War in the Valley. He fights there because he believes defending the Frostwolf Clan's home is a most honorable fight. He is sometimes seen in the Plaguelands and Silvermoon City. He rarely travels to Outland, only going there to Netherstorm to aid the Netherwing Drakes against the Dragonmaw Clan.

Modern History

Dranoel arrived on the shores of Silverpine Forest just days after Lord Anduin Lothar evacuated the Kingdom of Azeroth and fled to the Northern Kingdoms. Gathering information from villages as he made his way East, he realized the severity of the threat posed to the known worlds by the invading Orcish Horde. Dranoel used magic to disguise himself as a human, and joined the Knights of the Silver hand. After the Wars against the Orcs, the Alliance was successful in imprisoning the former in internment camps. It was then Dranoel left his comrades in the Silver Hand to seek Silvermoon City. Removing his human disguise, Dranoel lived in a quiet apartment in Silvermoon, working as a Guard Captain at Silvermoon's Western Wall. By the time the Scourge invaded Lordaeron, Dranoel have been promoted to Ranger Captain.

Dranoel was forced back into the Wars when Arthas invaded Quel'Thalas. No word came from Sylvanas' front line troops before it was too late. However, Dranoel sensed the movement of unholy forces before the Scourge reached Silvermoon City, and was among the first troops to be mobilized. Despite the guard's bravery and courage, superior numbers overwhelmed the Elves. Forced to organize an impromptu evacuation, Dranoel decided to face Arthas alone in a suicidal attempt to slow the crazed prince down. The two ex-comrades and now, rivals engaged in a duel, of which Dranoel lost after a long battle. The finishing blow was dealt, a diagonal slash down Dranoel's back. Dranoel was lucky as Arthas was too busy to confirm the kill. An anonymous savior dragged Dranoel to Sunstrider Isles. To this day, the scar Frostmourne inflicted upon Dranoel still burns.

After he was revived on Sunstrider Isle, Dranoel left for Kalimdor to seek the aid of the Druids of the Grove. Unknown to him, by the time he reached Kalimdor, the forest lands of the Night Elves were already under siege. Instead of finding the Night Elves, Dranoel encountered old Kirin Tor friends, Jaina Proudmoore and her people. To his suprise, they have joined forces with the New Horde under Thrall and Cairne's totemic Tauren. They were fighting to save Grom Hellscream. Dranoel assisted in the exorcism. After Hellscream was redeemed, Dranoel participated in the Battle of Mount Hyjal.

After the battle, he stayed in Theramore for a brief period of time before returning to Silvermoon City, which was recently retaken by Regent Lord Lor'Themar Theron and Ranger-General Halduron Brightwing. He has since enlisted into the ranks of Silvermoon's troops. Most of his work takes place in Alterac Valley.

Amnesia

Dranoel has incomplete memories. Dranoel's memories was scattered when he awoke on the shores of Silverpine Forest. Memories of the life he lived prior to his arrival in Pandaria were faded. Second time Dranoel was afflicted by amnesia was after being revived on Sunstrider Isle after his defeat to Arthas. This time, Dranoel completely forgot his life before Pandaria. However, it would appear that these memories still existed in his subconcious mind, resulting in constant "Deja Vu". These memories continue to shape Dranoel's view of the world subtly.

Tome of Invin (Real Ancient History)

A Tome was found in Silvermoon after it was ravaged by the Death Knight Arthas. It was the Tome of Invin, written in the Ancient Languages. The Tome was stolen by scavengers along with many other precious Elven Artifacts. Few can translate the Ancient Languages.

During the War of the Ancients

Dranoel once lived long ago in Kalimdor among the Kal'Dorei. He could not remember anything before that but he remembers the War of the Ancient quite clearly. Skilled in the Swordplay and the Ancient magics, Dranoel fought in the vanguard, only to be gravely injured by Nethalrion's Demon Soul. He was taken out of the battle by the Priestesses of the Moon, and healed. For a while, he lost his sight, but when he recovered just in time to witness the great sundering. When Illidan Stormrage created the Second Well of Eternity, Dranoel was extremely supportive of it, earning himself many enemies among the Kal'Dorei. Through political manouvering, he was able to avoid exile with the Highbourne. He was however, unable to escape the persecutions of Maiev Shadowsong (Dranoel gained an enemy in her for his vocal support for Illidan) and had to flee Kalimdor, by relieving the Kal'Dorei navy of one of their light ships. Unfortunately, Dranoel was not a very good navigator. He was lost at sea for close to a century, landing on many strange lands, meeting new people and many adventures. But the day of reckoning came when he sailed into the Maelstrom. His ship was destroyed by the savage waves. However, in an extreme twist of fate and a stroke of impossible luck, he was washed ashore onto the hidden land of Pandaria. The Pandaren decided it was fate that delivered Dranoel to their shores. They were the ones to coin his name "Storm-Rider" for survivng the Maelstrom against impossible odds. There, Dranoel live for the next Nine Thousand years. The Pandaren imparted many skills to Dranoel. They taught him the basics of Herbs, Minerals, Tea, Ales and Alcohol. Also, Martial Arts and Weapons Training. Dranoel tried to impart to them basic magic but the Pandaren could not even understand the basics. Even though few could master it they were eager to learn. Dranoel abandoned his nocturnal lifestyle to fit in with the Pandaren. Over the years, his Night Elven features began to change and slowly, Dranoel "evolved" into the likeness of a High Elf.

During the Tides of Darkness (2nd War)

For the longest time, Dranoel and the Pandaren led peaceful lives. But when Medivh opened the Dark Portal, a great dark cloud descended upon the entire world. The Pandaren High Elder agreed to allow Dranoel to leave and find his Kinsmen in Quel'Thalas to put and end to the chaotic magic at work. Dranoel was left on the western coast of Silverpine Forest. Dranoel bade the Pandaren farewell and wandered the forest. He soon found his way to the Lordaeron's capital city and arrived there just as Anduin Lothar brought the refugees of Azeroth to sanctuary. King Terenes Menethil called a great council to be held. Emissaries from all free races attended this meeting. It was there Dranoel met his kinsmen for the first time in over Ten Thousand years. Quickly learning Common and Thalassian from the Quel'Thalas emissaries, Dranoel soon realised the threat of the Orcish Horde. Dranoel attended the council and pushed for Quel'Thalas to join the grand Alliance, even volunteering to be the first elf to battle the horde. Despite his efforts, Anestarion refused to devote the armies of Silvermoon, only allowing a handful of archers, holding back the High Elves' powerful Mages. Because of Quel'Thalas refusal to commit fully to the war, Dranoel hid his Elven features with a light veil of magic, making him look Human. This gave him the freedom of conscripting in Azerothean forces led by Anduin Lothar. It was there he met Uther Lightbringer, the first Paladin. Under the name of Invin, he joined the Silver Hand under Uther. Dranoel was perhaps the First "Elf" to wield the might of the Holy Light. Dranoel fought along side Uther Lightbringer for much of the Second War. When the Grand Alliance finally pushed the Horde back to the Dark Portal, "Invin" retired, vanishing from the human lands. Dranoel then took up residence in Silvermoon City.

During Beyond the Dark Portal (Warcraft 2 Expansion)

Dranoel once again joined the war when the Horde stole magical runes from Dalaran and Quel'Thalas. Fearing that such artifacts would be extremely dangerous in the hands of reckless Orcish Warlocks, or worse... incompetent Ogre Mages, Dranoel seek out Khadgar and joined the Alliance Expedition. He found himself fighting along side old comrades such as Turaylon. Just before Khadgar sealed the Dark Portal, he was deceived by Alleria Windrunner. He was told supposed to deliver a message to Netherguarde Keep, requesting for reinforcements before returning to Draenor. But apparently, it was a ruse. The messages were those of last goodbyes. Knowing Dranoel had no kindred, Alleria decided to pick him and several others to return to Azeroth. (Apparently, people were concerned about bloodlines and did not want those to be cut off with a last son). Dranoel laughed it off when he realised he was tricked, noting to Netherguarde Footmens "Never Trust an Elf". Little did he know that line would be used by a certain Garithos in the future.

The Tome Ends Here. The Following Are Actions and Events Involving Dranoel After The End Of The Second War.

During the Reign of Chaos (Warcraft 3)

Dranoel returned to his residence in Silvermoon City, taking up the post of a City Tower Guard at the Western Wall to make ends meet. Some time before the Third Wall, he was promoted to Ranger Captain. When the plague started to ravage Northern Lordaeron, Dranoel began to feel the same dread he felt during the War of the Ancients and the 1st Opening of the Dark Portal. His gut feelings were right when Arthas suddenly appears at Thalassian Borders with an army of undead. Despite Sylvanas Windrunner's valiant attempt to defend the outer circles, she delayed Arthas long enough for the SilverMoon City Guards to man the walls of the city to give a last ditch attempt to save the city. But the Wall and Tower Guards were quickly overwhelmed by superior enemy numbers, artillery and air-support. Dranoel's unit were among the first to change priorities from defending the city to evacuation, ushering as many civilians as possible to Sunstrider Isle. Half way during the evacuation, Dranoel sensed his old comrade Arthas. Arthas too sensed Dranoel. Dranoel confronted Arthas as "Invin" and tried to convince Arthas to return to the light and abandon his crazed conquest. But when he realised Arthas could not be redeemed, he forsook his Human form and engaged the Death Knight in a titanic battle. They fought for hours but soon, Frostmourne shattered all of Dranoel's weapons and the Elf was finally defeated. Dranoel fell before the Death Knight's wrath but once again, by a stroke of luck, Arthas neglected to ensure his foe was dead. Dranoel's unit rescued him and brought him to Sunstrider Isles together with the refugees. Shortly after he awoke, Dranoel left Azeroth for Kalimdor to seek the aid of his old comrades, the Kal'dorei (Night Elves), only to find Jaina Proudmoore and her people allied with Thrall and Cairne. Dranoel assisted in the exorcism of Grom Hellscream and subsequently participated in the Battle of Mount Hyjal.

During The Frozen Throne (Warcraft 3 Expansion)

Dranoel returned to the Eastern Kingdoms after a short stay in the Theramore Isles. He left for Menethil Harbour and subsequently, Aerie Peak approximately 6 months before the arrival of Admiral Daelin Proudmoore. Upon his return to the continent, he found that what used to be the Kingdom of Lordaeron was now a killing field for anything left alive. Arthas had begun the slaughter of refugees and the Knights of the Silver Hand were helpless. Dranoel was too late to aid his comrades. The combined forces of Sylvanas, Kel'Thuzad and Arthas converged upon the last bastion of human resistance, the Paladin's base in Ruined Palace Gardens of Lordaeron. He saw the slaying of two reknown paladins, Magroth the Defender and Halahk the Lifebringer by Frostmourne's blade. It was at that moment where Dranoel decended into a state of depression. Frustrated at the lack of hope and salvation the "Holy Light" offered to him in the face of damnation, Dranoel bordered on the insanity. Dranoel's mental state only worsened at the news of the loss of Morgraine the Ashbringer.

Quotes

"Illidan Stormrage... he was a genious. Had he not created the foundations of the World Tree in the new well, how could we have stopped Archimonde? And yet the Night Elves condemn and banish him!"

"Blood Knights are an interesting breed of Paladin. While they parade around on Silvermoon City on their Chargers, Detest the Silver Hand for their failures, Showing off the remarkable powers of the light, their purpose and mission is to protect Quel'Thalas, their home, from the Scourge and the Legion. Just like the Silver Hand! How similar we are!"

"((If they call it the Burning Crusade. How come I see no Burning nor any Crusade? I was expecting some great Burning Legion stuff they promised but all we got was some crappy excuse to turn Kael'Thas and Illidan into superficial villains instead of the tragic heroes they really are!))"

"((I touched MC Hammer!))"
